Can you feel the love tonight? (and every minute of every day?)

Way back in time, researchers did a study where they separated newborns from their mothers. They fed them, but avoided all contact with the children. They died. They died of loneliness.

Telling the babies that they are loved would have not been enough, they would not have understood. They NEEDED to feel the love in order to live.

I believe we are the same when it comes to God, hearing is nice, but we wont understand. We need to feel the love in order to understand what is going on in our lives (but not necessarily why, that's up to God to understand). We need to feel the love of God.

If we don't feel the love, we fill our hearts with band-aid solutions like money, work, friends, clothes, and worst of all, sin.

Gods love is powerful, if you feel the love, you wont need these things

(everything except for sin you will probably need in order to live, its a common sense thing. But you wont need to worry about them, because God takes care of us.)

So how do we feel the love?

We are Gods creation, We are everywhere, we have a wonderful gift from God called the Bible, if you haven't figured it out yet, Its us! (I'm excited! are you excited?)

We are here to work for God. We are examples of his love. When we show each other love and act for him in his name, others see this. A selfless man/woman sacrificing themselves for others will turn more heads than anything ever could. It will get peoples attention, and they will see the love and joy!

And others show us love in the same way.

That's as real as it gets.

Be selfless.

Strive everyday, in every way, to serve God. And spread the love. Be selfless.

A book of the bible that I read recently, Colossians, Has a verse that explains a lot for me. It was written by Paul to the church in Colossians.

“I want you to know how much I am struggling for you and for those at Laodicea, and for all who have not met me personally. My purpose is that the may be encouraged in heart and united in love, so that they may have the full riches of complete understanding, in order that they may know the mystery of God, namely Christ, in whom are hidden all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge.”

Colossians 2:1-3

Help others to feel and understand, and thank God for giving you the ability to do his Glorious work.

Love is more than a funny feeling.

This is a topic i want to talk about even further than i have now, because i believe it is one of the most important things in life.

Love is so much more than that feeling you get when you hang out with that one specific person who you really relate to, and who laughs at your jokes, and who is really attrative (dont deny it, u know its true).

in marriage, i think it as a pair who sacrifice personal wants and desires for the stregnthening of the unity. (that sounded like a textbook answer, but thats what i believe for now, and i have put alot of thought into what it means these past few months. but that is a whole other blog post).

anyway, What is love?

It is what we should feel for every other human being.

love is the unconditional feeling that we should feel towards others where we would be selfless and help them in their journey.

human rights are a joke in my opnion. They are a band-aid solution to the selfish desires of people. no human is superior to another.

but when people do act unjustly towards us? we should be allowed to defend our honor and ways of life?

Love the sinner, not the sin. it doesnt get much simpler than that.

easy to say, but not to do, right? It all depends. I personally believe that with faith, nothing is considered difficult, because of faith that God is there every step of the way.

simply put, love(for me)  is sharing the joy we experiance when we serve god.

One path, Billions of journeys. Joy or bust!

Read this if you want, take away from it what you will. I hope that this makes sense. And understand that this is mypersonal opinion.
And Please tell me how you feel. whether you agree or if you think im wrong.

Sometimes you need to see the darkness in order to truly understand the purity of the light.

1) Hell is the absence of hope, joy, and God.
2) it is very real for everyone, even as we live on earth.
It is not just a place we go after we die if we turn our backs on God.

3) You don't want to be there, trust me.
So what does this have to do with joy?
Its the opposite of joy, the thorn on the rose, the weeds in the garden.
and like the weeds, it can kill everything, and suck all life force from you.

it can take many forms, from always being irritated to having pure untamed hatred for life and all good things.

Hell is focusing on yourself and pleasing ourselves. (how can we see and come to know God if all we can see is ourself?)

Hell for me was having a deep emotional scarring that made me want to caus pain for others that would make them understand how i felt everyday. I pray to God everyday that I am never that way again.

It was the most selfish thing i could have done, on a deeper level than simply just hurting others (and thats really bad as it is).

I did not know God, I did not know hope.

I got between them and God. I was a roadblock in their path to knowing God. I Deserve the fires of Hell for what ive done (by todays standards nothing i did could be considered a crime. by the standards of God, it was so much worse)

But I have faith in God because he will not let my selfish actions cause others to stray from their journey because of me.

no matter what happens in the future, I will be faithful to Him.

I have spent time studying the bible, going to many different church functions. And learning to Love my fellow man unconditionally.

And now I have felt some great things. Not just a fleeting glimpse, but a constant non-stop overflowing Joy.

So the answer for me?

Be selfless.

there i said it, you read it. Be selfless.

Selfless

Selfless.

Hell was personal, Joy and love are all-encompasing.

Note to reader, everyone has a different journey to knowing God. And it is Not easy.

but theres only one path.

so have faith.

at WCYC we had a discussion about what it means to follow Christ.

The answer for me was in the book of mark. It says "If Anyone would come after me, he must deny himself and take up his cross and follow me." Mark 9:34

"he must deny himself."

lose yourself and gain your identity in Christ.

what that means for each of us specifically, i don't know.

Don't judge anybody, anytime. We don't know what makes the other person they way they are.

Don't convict others to punishment. we don't really know whats "fair". to judge someone we have to be above them.

Just love

We cannot be focused on God and ourselves at the same time.

Why did I share all this? because it would be selfish not to. So share the love.

"its not about me. we can only be the change we want to see and have faith, caus its not about me."

Intro to My Mind.

So after reading my youth ministers blogs, and then the blog of a dear friend. I said "why not?"

I got a blog. And i'm waaaaaaaay behind the times.

better late than never, right?

I love to write. I write music, poetry, short stories, and im 7 chapters into a book. Writing is my way of expressing thoughts or ideas that I couldn't vocalize.

I have a very dry sense of humor. I'm going into college this year, York college. I hope to be a special education major with a minor in missions.

And, as you can tell from how I went from humor to college. I am not always organized with my thoughts.

a few important things to know about me.

1) my goal in life is to be selfless. selfishness only causes pain for others.

2) I will listen to the thoughts of others, because i'm never going to know everything. And because we all see things differently.

3) You are awesome. You are a creation of God, 'nuff said.

4) If you didn't get this from the first 3, here is the most important. life is not about me. I'm not writing this blog to rant or any personal reason. but simply because I have faith you will find meaning in my thoughts.

"We can only be the change we want to see, and have faith that it will be."
