Courtesy of Jerome

Reepicheep By Jerome Taylor

December 11, 2010“I have had great adventures in this land, but I have always yearned for your country, and no adventure has pulled me from that.”

“My country was built for the very heart that you have.”

That isn’t word for word but that is the message that was portrayed at the end the movie version of Narnia: The Voyage of The Dawn Treader. That was the last conversation that Reepicheep would have in Narnia with Aslan. That message was incredibly profound for me to hear.

I thought deeply about its meaning and it’s honorable stature. Aslan through the Narnia series has been the symbol of Jesus Christ, and Reeicheep to me in this scene is a servant who fights, and yearns for the one thing that he does not yet have; to live in Aslan’s Country. When I witnessed this scene I became overwhelmed with emotion, every thought in my mind except for this scene had vanished. I broke down in deep reflection because of what this means for us.

John 14:2 says this: “In my Father’s house are many rooms; if it were not so, I would have told you. I am going there to prepare a place for you.”

That very thing happened for Reepicheep. Ashlan (Jesus) said that his country was built for some like Reepicheep, and what is Reepicheep? He is the symbol of a servant who longs for eternity and in everything that means. Because of the nature of sin and flesh, the notion can be understood that Reepicheep is not perfect, nor is he righteous but one thing that he has held onto is his yearning.

The kingdom of God is prepared for those who crave it, it is prepared for those who have faith, and it is built for those who are not perfect. I broke down because I know that I can not reach the ultimate goal of eternity, but I yearn for it, I crave it, and I have a passion that is fueled through service. The message that Aslan and Reepicheep have shown me, is that the kingdom of heaven is built for a sinning, filthy, and ignorent servant like me.

I pray that you will understand this and that you will have faith and confidence in the fact that God has prepared a place for you. God built heaven for someone just like you, so yearn all the greater, crave all the more, and take hold of the love of God. Amen.

the faithful shall be rewarded

yeah, in the time that ive been away i have written a book. its almost complete, and im working on getting it published.

for you who have been following my blog, i would like to send you a copy.

its very similar in idea to my blog.

more details to follow ( i promise it will be much shorter time gap...  haha....)

I took a vacation from cyberspace

not really, i just have been really busy. and kinda forgot to update my blog. i also fractured my elbow and hyperextended my ucl (tendion in my elbow) 3 weeks ago. i have 5 weeks left in this brace before i either have surgery or start physical therapy. its slightly annoying because i cant use my right arm for almost anything.

anyway, so i am on thanksgiving break in wisconsin. its fun, i am visitng friends.

i had a very interesting trip on the way here. i came here with another friend named andrew. we left for wisconsin at 5 pm in the evening. we didnt leave york until 5:45 because we spent half an hour at a gas station. around midnight in iowa, his windshield and windows fog up in an instant, as he trys to defog, he accidently ends up going waaaaaaay to fast. he got a ticket. as well as a person (unbeknownst to us) who had been trying to pass him and sped up as well.

then at 1 pm, he notices that his car has been sitting at empty for a while. so we take the next exit in iowa to find a gas station. we find it after driving 5 miles away from the expressway.

it was closed.

so, along with a few jokes from me about getting out to push, we drive to the next town 5 miles away. it had two gas stations. one was closed.

one was an amaco station. amaco was bought out by bp years and years ago. that gas station summerized how sketchy the town was.
we drove 11 miles at 25 mph with our hazards on on this highway. find a city whos name i have forgotton. and we got to the station before the car breathed its last. it was a close call because the car had started to die 2 miles before.

we get back on the expressway and proceed to get to an amish store next to a gas station. he pulls over the car and takes a half an hour nap. i sit there wondering why the "amish" store has security cameras and lights. we finally get into black river falls wisconsin at 4 am. i didnt want to wake up the people i was visiting, they live at wisconsin christian youth camp, so i plop (it was a very quiet plop, i was trying to make no noise) onto a pew in the great hall. i woke up around 9 am with the knowledge of why pews are for sitting and not sleeping. i then knock on the door. i proceed to head to rhinelander that day.

its so nice not having to pay for laundry.

If you die tomorow, will your possesions miss you?

Instant gratification.

A phrase that defines my generation in a lot of ways. Although i dislike generalizations.

we hear so often from teachers and adults that "you cant take it with you!" or "he who dies with the most money.....still dies."

So many things of this nature drain time from our lives, i was playing a video game for 2 hours today and thought afterwards, "why?"

i did it during a time where i could have hung out with friends, read my bible, or worked on a different blog post.

but i chose a video game.

the original deciples of Christ spent so much time towards fighting (figuratively) that others would hear the messege of God.

Video Game Vs. God

not much of a match up.

people at york college like to gossip, a lot.

Who so and so is dating Vs. God

Still not a matchup

i could look forever and not find a match, and i would probably be dead and have had my sole accomplishment in life being that i proved God was above all else.

That would be similar to announcing to the world that 2 + 2 = 4.

Duh!

I want to challenge all who read this (including myself) to think about how we spend God's gift to us.

Please dont waste it.
